Project: Young Naturalists of Andhra Pradesh
This project is aimed at introducing school and college students to their local biodiversity and collecting biodiversity data from the Andhra Pradesh landscape. Many of the major cities and towns in Andhra Pradesh are located close to protected areas, Eastern Ghats forests and major wetlands. As a part of this project, school and college students from these cities and towns will be trained and supported to use iNaturalist app for exploring and recording biodiversity around their home or institutions. All the data captured will be added to iNaturalist collection projects created and monitored by the project team.
Wherever required, teachers, parents and faculty of the participating individuals and institutions will also be trained online on using the iNaturalist application. Additional support will be provided to all participants through online interactions and webinars on different forms of life including birds, butterflies, spiders, plants and other taxa. Best contributing individuals and institutions will be rewarded on a monthly and yearly basis. |
