Peninsular birdsA number of races of birds exist in the peninsular Indian landscape, all separated by various geographic barriers like rivers, mountain ranges and even climatic barriers. This project collects the first blood samples of birds across this entire landscape to examine dominant biogeographic paradigms in this landscape.

FORest owletOur previous project on this threatened, endemic bird had suggested that this species was perhaps a member of the genus Athene. We are expanding on this work by including Next Generation Sequencing data to understand the demographic history and the phylogentic position of the species.
