ROHITH SRINIVASAN
PROJECT STUDENT
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
I am Rohith Srinivasan, an Integrated masters student in Life Sciences at Ahmedabad University, Gujarat. I am working on my master's thesis at the bird lab at IISER Tirupati. My passion in this field came through birds in the western ghats. Two things that always fascinated me from a young age was how birds were colourful and how they have such complex songs. I have always been interested in animal communication and interaction within and between species. My research interests lie in behavioural ecology, sexual selection, animal interaction and understanding human-wildlife conflicts. I am currently working along with Chiti Aravind on the Bioacoustic project of White-bellied Sholakili and will be exploring female songs of the White-bellied Sholakili for my masters dissertation. I am keen in exploring the field of bioacoustics and slowly would like to deep dive into the understanding of the proximate mechanisms to animal behaviours. Projects involved: Sholakili Song Diversity PERSONAL AND OTHER INTERESTS:
I love getting lost into any wild space I find, trying to find the most weirdest creature. I love Nature-journaling and conducting walks and sessions for school and college students on ecology and creating nature-education materials for school students to get interested in this field. I have started cooking recently and loving the time I spend in the kitchen (I try to not burn down the kitchen) while jamming to old tamil songs.
