RESEARCH INTERESTS

Being a person who hails from the rich Western Ghats, I have always been curious about animal lives around me. But, the interest to explore the wild and to look at them through the lens of science came from the books of two of my favorite writers/scientists - Karvalo by Poornachandra Tejaswi and Survival Strategies by Dr. Raghavendra Gadagkar respectively..
I have had the opportunities to work with some of the great researchers at NCF and SACON, all of which shaped my interest to pursue this huge field of research.
I have worked on "Sensory ecology in the context of Foraging in Free ranging Dogs"  with The Dog Lab, IISER Kolkata, for my M.Sc Dissertation, for which I conducted behavioral experiments on stray dogs and met both peculiar canines and humans.
Right now, my primary interest is the physiology and evolution of behavior  and sexual selection in animals. I am especially intrigued by the diverse colors, songs and dances of birds. I would like to explore different aspects of these behaviors.
Currently I am working on the field across shola forests, mist netting and collecting samples from the birds.I am also trying to learn different data analyses, which gives me a better understanding of these animals, their ecology and behaviors.

Projects Involved: Sholakili Song Diversity
PERSONAL AND OTHER INTERESTS

Apart from the work, I would be eager to explore different places, it's native birds (and dogs!) and native cuisines, especially sweets.
When at home, watching movies/reading books with coffee and taking dance classes and thereby enjoying my own company would be my favorite things to do!
