Assess bird population recovery through genomics – Past to present:
​

• Use Next-Generation Sequencing to understand how the populations of species at your site are changing over time.
• Is your intervention creating the desired effect on the resident birds - are populations of a species increasing, stable, or decreasing?
• Get insights from the past ~100 generations using advanced genomic data - how was the species doing in the past, and what happened in recent years.

These methods require detailed planning, forest department permits, active field sampling, and about 1 year to execute. Such a project will work best for isolated patches - e.g. restoration patches from 5 years back / 10 years back; and range-restricted populations.
