Molecular tools and techniques for wildlife conservation:

Aviation bird strikes, defined as collisions between birds and aircraft, pose a serious threat to aviation safety. They can cause damage to the aircraft, compromising passenger safety, leading to economic loss, and disturbing the natural flight patterns of birds. Identification of the species involved in aviation strikes is important to developing effective mitigation measures and wildlife management in and around airports.

We use our knowledge of birds from across India, with our expertise in genetics, particularly with birds, to provide assessments of species identification from bird strikes. 
​
Currently, we provide this service for various GMR Airports and have processed hundreds of samples over the last few years.
