RESEARCH INTERESTS:
I am interested in research that can make a tangible impact on the ground for wildlife. One of the tools that has particularly fascinated me is bioacoustics, because of its ability to study animals non-invasively while revealing hidden aspects of ecosystems. My broader interests lie in animal behaviour and communication, something that has intrigued me since childhood—whether observing animals around me or online that sparked questions about how animals interact, behave, and respond to their environment and each other. During my MSc in Wildlife Conservation, my thesis focused on evaluating mammal detection using camera traps and passive acoustic recorders in a semi-arid landscape in Gujarat, examining how different monitoring tools capture different components of mammal diversity and activity. Through my current work and exposure in the lab, I have been exploring how bioacoustics in cryptic species can help answer questions in biogeography and evolution. Rather than focusing on a single narrow topic, I enjoy exploring different ideas that spark curiosity and gradually shape my research direction. This exploratory approach continues to guide how I learn, ask questions, and hope to contribute to wildlife conservation. PERSONAL AND OTHER INTERESTS:
Outside of work, I enjoy listening to music, playing a little ukulele, sports- mostly football, badminton, watching shows, and cycling. I like finding ways to make science engaging and accessible to wider audiences too.
